I love clouds they can be so pretty. No cloud is the same. I have always loved taking pictures of clouds to capture how beautiful they can be. This one afternoon as I was rushing to pick up my step son from his after school program I saw this one cloud formation. Above was the huge storm cloud and below a cute little white fluffy one, and in between was a opening letting the sun rays fall through. I snapped a picture and continued on my way.
It was then that I started to look up more and noticed how many dark clouds were filling the sky. I know they said I storm was coming but I thought they said it would be later. I hurried along.
Of course when I left work the sun was out and all was clear so I had no rain gear what so ever with me. The wind was whipping around and I could tell when the storm hit it was going to be a big one. Half way from the bus stop to the building the wind stopped completely. Not a single leaf blew in the wind it was super still. The storm was no longer coming, it was here.
I ran in my flip flops trying to out run the storm but it got me. It was a light rain but the rain drops were huge. It only took a few drops to get wet. I had my sweater over my head to try and shield some of the rain and it did help a little. By the time I reached his after school building I was wet, but the rain had stopped.
The two of us hurried back to the bus shelter and hopped back on the bus. Just one more stop and we were home free and the storm could return.
We stopped and grabbed some groceries and as we came out of the store with our bags I noticed then the huge black skies darker then I have ever seen them but the wind was still wild so I knew we might have some time to make it home.
Just as we were getting close to the house the wind stopped. I told my step son to pick up the pace and run if he could. The rain was coming and it was going to be bad. We got in the door closed up the windows and then I stepped out front because I heard a noise. The noise I heard was the rain. I did not recognize it because it fell down so hard and so fast it was like a bucket being dumped.

Now keep in mind this picture is clear. It may look very fuzzy but that is the rain. It came down like this for almost two hours. I got so lucky that all I got while coming home was a few minutes of big rain drops. In this rain in less then a minute you would be soaked right through. It was crazy. The next day tree branches were down and some people even lost power. They said that none of the damages were done because of the wind but just the sheer force of the rain. |
