Ever since my fiances friend bought a trailer park we have been spending weekends up there so my fiance can help with all the renovations. Each weekend I would sit there a wonder around lost with nothing to do. I would take the dogs for a walk or sit with the boys while they worked. I even took some time to read.
It was nice to have nothing to do and relax but it was past that and into just plan dull. I asked "Is there anything you need me to do?"
This is when their eyes lit up and said "Have you ever done cash?"
Now a bit of back story... When I was looking for a job when I was younger I said there were two jobs I would never do, retail and food. I told them no and they just simple told me it was easy to learn and to come along anyway.
The first time they put me in the store I was told no one would come by it was slow and that I just needed to be there "just in case." Well it was a very busy hour that they left me alone and the five minutes of training if you could even call it that before they left was just not enough.
I had no idea what I was doing as since the store was new as well not all the items were priced yet. I was trying to figure out what to charge while trying to guess at what button to push next. I made so many mistakes and later had to go and apologize to some of the campers since i over charged foe a site and messed a few things up.
I told them I was sorry and that I guess cash was not my thing. They did not take that for an answer. The encouraged me and said "Next time you will do better."
What! Next time?
I thought this was a one time deal more so after I messed up so much. Instead it turned into a weekend thing. I now work the store all day every day I am there. The last time was there I got my food delivered to me since it was too busy to even get a break. I now work more hours on the weekend then I do during the week.
I am starting to mess up less and less and getting the hang up it all and it is starting to be enjoyable but the hours are long.
Now as I am doing this as "help" it is not a paid job what so ever but I just get told that if I'm thirty or need a snack that it's fine to grab something off the shelf. Which can be very dangerous seeing as this is what I stare at all day ..... (one of three walls of junk)
