I joined the PDSA Pet Protectors club (I'm a huge animal lover), and through this, I gained about 9 pen pals from all over the country. We would write to each other on a regular basis, but as we all got older, the letters became less and less frequent, and eventually stopped completely.
I am currently in my third year of university studying Media, and a huge dream of mine is for my writing to get published. I have already had some articles published in an online magazine - Yuppee Mag - but one day I would love to be featured in some big, global magazines. The biggest problem is, I haven’t exactly got “experience” of how to reach this goal.
I previously had a blog which I updated every now and then, and mainly used it to vent and share my thoughts. However, about a month ago I realised that I wanted to start a proper blog - a blog which I can update on a regular basis and be of interest to others.
After having my heart set on chasing the dream of writing in the media, I decided that having a blog could help me get there. Writing on a regular basis for others to read, and reading other peoples blogs would help me gain confidence in what I was writing. It would give me the opportunity to develop my writing further, and become one step closer to 'the big dream'.
My blog isn't about any one thing in particular - it covers a huge range of topics from life issues, to random thoughts, to beauty, to books... Literally anything and everything!
For example, I have written some book reviews. I have written posts which many people can relate to, such as - "Don't let the past steal your future", and "Mirror Mirror on the Wall". I have shared some of my personal problems with my readers, such as anxiety and the horror of public speaking. I have even tried to get people to think about their actions - to stop bullying, and stop judging people.
I have given other bloggers the opportunity to feature on my blog. I welcome anyone, and everyone to step forward and say if they would like to do a feature post for my blog - I think it is such a fantastic opportunity for bloggers to do for one another, so I welcome it with open arms.
I myself, suffer from severe anxiety. I know of many people with mental illnesses, and I have previously suffered with depression myself. Therefore, I am currently working on a big post to support and raise awareness for mental health. I don't think it gets anywhere near enough attention as it should, and I know that people without such disorders don't quite understand how severe and painful it can be for the sufferers. Mental illness is not a choice, and it certainly isn't a joke.
I cannot explain how glad I am that I decided to start up this blog. It has helped me gain more confidence in myself, and I have met such fantastic people who share similar interests. I love spending my evenings reading through other peoples blogs - it really does inspire me!
